to eat and drink

The Spartan is a unique getaway to get closer, or be alone, and for adventures ranging from swimming, biking, hiking, wild plant foraging, tubing, taking long country drives, hitting flea markets and yard sales, bird watching, napping, making pour-over coffee, grilling, picnicing, plein-air painting, meditating, doing sunrise yoga, and more. See if you can catch a glimpse of the neighborhood bald eagle, or the hawks, herons, and migratory swallows that live nearby. Listen for the owl and watch for fireflies in the evening.

We are a short drive fromWestkill Brewing, Woodstock Brewery, Phoenicia Diner, and Bread Alone. There is so much to explore in every direction, with even more regional amenities a slightly longer drive away. Woodstock is about 45 minutes from us, as is Kingston. There is art, theatre, history, and spots that defy description.

Here are just some suggestions to get started with. Be sure to call before you go due to possible Covid-19 related changes in hours, menus or availability of indoor dining. We will add to this page as places reopen.
